A Rye Home Example

Illustrative estimate, not a quote. Actual bills and savings will vary.

This example assumes no remaining variable electricity charges. Actual imports and exports may leave additional charges. How imports, exports and net metering affect your bill.

Estimated monthly bill without solar

$210.29 /mo

Estimated monthly cost with solar

$183.51 /mo

Potential monthly savings

$26.78 /mo

Includes estimated income from renewable energy credits, paid quarterly.

Cost with solar is an average: the loan payment plus the fixed utility charge, minus estimated credit income. That income does not reduce your monthly loan payment or utility bill.

Enter your electricity use and answer a few roof questions.

System size
7.48 kW DC
Panels
17 × 440 W
Estimated cash price
$21,318
Loan payment
$185.70/mo

The full cash price is financed for 15 years at 6.5%. No down payment, additional loan fees, tax credit or rebate is assumed.

Renewable energy credit income

$22.00 /mo average

8 renewable energy credits at an assumed $33 each = $264/year, divided by 12.

Eligibility, production and credit prices affect actual income.

Roof and electricity assumptions
  • Selected Home Energy benchmark values reviewed September 25, 2026. These are illustrative assumptions, not current installer or lender quotes or a measurement of every Rye home.
  • South-facing roof with minimal shade, less than 10 years old; no roof or structural work, battery, or electric service upgrade included.
  • Solar cash price assumes $2.85 per watt.
  • Electricity supply and delivery: 25.8336¢/kWh, plus a $19.81 monthly customer charge.
  • The example assumes solar offsets the annual electricity-use portion of the bill. Actual savings depend on production, usage timing, rates and applicable net-metering credits.
How imports, exports and net metering affect your bill

Your home may draw electricity from the grid when solar production is low and send surplus electricity to the grid at other times. Net metering credits those exports under your utility’s applicable rules.

Generating as much electricity as you use over a year does not guarantee that export credits cover all charges for electricity you import. Timing, rates and billing rules affect the result. The fixed utility charge also continues.

The example assumes no remaining variable electricity charges; it is not a forecast of your actual utility bills.
